Salon wars continued...

We have owned our salon in Bedminster (Bristol), for 5 years now. When we first moved there we had little competition around us and we took most of the clients from the high-street. About 3 years ago we had a salon open nearby, the salon ended up closing as they were fighting for the same customers and off they went. Over they years new salon owners have came and went and they never really affected us. About a year or so ago, one particular women took over the business, at first she became quite busy as she was new but slowly her clientèle left again. As her business started to decrease she became particularly aggressive towards myself and the staff. In all honestly I don't know why she was so aggressive towards us because we did nothing to upset her. She was the one who opened her salon on our turf, if anyone was to be angry about this it should of been us. Anyway over the last year, every time I had seen her on the high-street she would shout abuse at me, whenever I walked past the shop the whole salon including the clients would all turn to look at me, which made it quite obvious that she had nothing nice to say and she even resorted to barging into me on several occasions. It had got quite bad, so in the end I was forced to call the police on her. I really don't know what her problem was, she was just a rude women. The only reason she had a problem with me was because we were stronger than her! Finally she stopped with the aggression and just gave me nasty looks etc.
So moving on, towards Christmas time she had started to close her salon early and all professionalism on her behalf had gone out of the window. Her clients had started to come to us complaining that she had let them down and was telling them that she was closing down. Obviously we took her clients on and she really started to struggle. Finally Christmas eve had come around and she announced that she was closing. In a few months our lease is due to run out, so today we decided to take a look at the competition. My first impression of the salon was horrible but it could be changed into something lovely. So we are now considering taking on the salon and keeping our existing salon to fit out with retail. Luckily for us it has a very big upstairs, which means we could use it for training space. Don't get me wrong I do feel a little bit sorry for her as I love my salons and would hate to loose them, Although they do say watch out for karma. Anyway, I'm sure when she finds out that we have been snooping around her salon she will not be very happy to say the least but for me I am glad she is gone!
